Terms of Service
Last updated: September 2026
These terms form the agreement between you and JarJoy when you use this website or place an order. By using the site you accept them.
About us
JarJoy is a food business operating from Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. Orders are processed and paid for through Shopify's secure checkout.
Orders and acceptance
- Placing an order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we confirm your order by email.
- We may decline or cancel an order — with a full refund — if an item is out of stock, if there is a pricing or description error, or if we cannot deliver to your address.
- You must be of legal age to form a binding contract in your province or territory.
Prices and payment
- All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and exclude applicable taxes unless stated.
- Applicable HST/GST is calculated and shown at checkout. Most basic groceries are zero-rated in Canada; where a product is taxable, tax is shown before you pay.
- Volume discounts are applied automatically based on the number of jars in your cart: 2-5 jars 10% off, 6-9 jars 15% off, 10 or more jars 25% off. Discounts apply to product subtotal only, before tax and shipping, and cannot be combined with other offers.
- Payment is taken by Shopify and its payment providers. We do not store your card details.
Products, food safety and allergens
- Our products are pickled vegetables in vinegar or brine. Ingredients are listed on every product page and on the jar label.
- Products may be produced in an environment that also handles mustard, celery, sesame and other allergens. If you have a serious allergy, contact us before ordering.
- Colour, texture and heat level vary naturally between batches, as expected with handmade food.
- Refrigerate after opening and consume by the date printed on the jar. Do not consume from a jar with a bulging lid, broken seal, off smell or visible mould.
Health claims disclaimer
Information on this site about torshi, fermentation or ingredients is general and cultural in nature. It is not medical or nutritional advice, and our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.
Intellectual property
The JarJoy name, logo, jar labels, photographs, illustrations and website text are owned by JarJoy or used with permission, and are protected by Canadian copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, reproduce, resell or use them commercially without our written permission. We respect the rights of others — if you believe content on this site infringes your copyright or trademark, email us and we will investigate and remove infringing material promptly.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the site for unlawful purposes, to scrape it at scale, or to attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorized access to it.
- Reviews and messages you submit must be honest and must not be offensive or infringe anyone's rights.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or other consumer protection or food safety legislation, or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there. Disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario, without affecting your right to bring a claim in Small Claims Court where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version in force when you place an order is the one that applies to that order.
